Medical Office Administrators serve as the foundation for the medical financial team. They are crucial to the functioning of health care facilities. They perform administrative duties including medical billing, patient accounts/statements, and insurance claims processing/examining. They work directly with patients, physicians, and other health care personnel.

Our Medical Office Administrator graduates can work in a variety of settings including:

  • doctor’s offices
  • hospitals
  • rehabilitation centers
  • skilled nursing facilities
  • insurance companies


Students are prepared to understand basic bookkeeping, accounts receivable/payable, Workers Compensation, Managed Care Systems, Medicare, Medicaid, other government/private insurance procedures, as well as tracing delinquent claims and insurance problem solving, with special emphasis on data entry and computer skills.  In addition to the billing process, student will be able to demonstrate the ability of coding CPT, ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM,  and HCPCS, including Diagnostic Related Groups.
